Truth is, it is actually quite easy to understand. You can understand music theory without even knowing it. This is why I teach students of my EDM Bootcamp how to make amazing chords and melodies without using any music theory tactics and strictly using their ears. The thing you must understand in the first place is how to make music with your ears and emotions. You need to be able to judge a freshly written melody with your ears and feelings, not your brain and eyes. It is also a crucial skill to be able to write chords and decide if they sound good based off of what they SOUND like and note what they LOOK like by some music theory standard. I'm not saying that you should avoid music theory because at some point or another, if you stick with music production in the long run, you will eventually need some experience in music theory... but again, that's in the long run. Also, music theory can actually be quite helpful so be careful not to avoid too much. What I'm trying to tell you is that whether you know music theory or not, that should not stop you from getting into music production. I didn't know music theory for years when I was ghost producing music for DJ's who then took those songs, got them signed, and played them in front of thousands of people. I understood and still stand by one major thing about music.... if it sounds good, it's probably good. You ARE capable of learning how to write amazing chords and melodies with your EARS.
