Royalties, Publishing, and Masters: What a New Recording Artist in 2019 Needs to Know

Check out MC Stein's debut album: hyperurl.co/eh6mhu Even though most of today's recording artists know to be very careful about record label's, specifically 360 deals, there is a lot of confusion about what it means to be an independent artist. In order to maximize your income as a producer, songwriter, lyricist, beat maker, composer, or even an indie label, it is absolutely necessary that you understand all of the available "streams" of revenue related to music. It are these streams of revenue that the record labels exploited before the SoundCloud era. Recently, Chance the Rapper was complaining about how confusing this information is, yet it is this information that made him extremely wealthy as an independent artist. Be thankful these laws are in place and are only improving.
