How do I read more books? How do I get consistent and disciplined with reading more? Get book summaries & more stuff like this here: https://revolutionhive.com/pages/hive-library In this video I explain some simple, highly practical tips you can use to help you read over 50 books per year, without putting in a HUGE amount of effort or doing any kind of special "speed reading" training or anything like. How? The first step is understanding why reading is important to you, but not just that - really internalising it emotionally. You need to experience it, feel it and emotionally understand how it will impact your life. The best way to do this? It's of course to read. The more you experience something, the more passionate you get towards it. Whether that's volunteering, or writing more or just photos on instagram. The same applies to your reading. Warren Buffet chooses to read for 6+ hours a day because as an investor, he understands that it vastly improves his decision making. As a result, he's going to make more money due to superior choices on what to invest in/not to invest in. Secondly, reframe things. Look at it not just as reading but as personal 1:1 time with the author. If you're reading a book by Stephen Hawking like I was recently, you might get stuck at particular points and give up. It's easy especially when reading these days seems so secondary in importance. (Just look at how many community libraries are being closed due to lack of demand). By seeing it as personal 1:1 mentoring time, I then feel more committed and am more likely to stick to my reading habit as there's no way I would swap 30 mins of time with Stephen Hawking for watching random YouTube videos. I know what will be far more valuable. And finally, a practical and simple tip to help you read more - over 50 books a year - is to read 20 pages at least per day. Over a week that's 140 pages. Over 2 weeks, that's a 280 page book, and you can easily read over 50 books this way. Other small hacks like turning up the speed on audible to 1.25x (a small less noticeable difference) then gradually increasing it, also work. Or listening to audiobooks during "idle" time like when you're just brushing your teeth, or waiting for the bus, or in a traffic jam really help too.
